Regular STI screening not only aids in early detection but also plays a significant role in preventing the transmission of STIs by identifying and treating infections in asymptomatic individuals. To learn more, see the poster included in this kit.
What is DoxyPEP?
- Doxycycline Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (DoxyPEP) means taking the antibiotic doxycycline after sex, to prevent getting a STI.
- DoxyPEP has demonstrated benefit in reducing chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis infections and represents a new approach to addressing STI prevention in populations at increased risk for these infections.
- DoxyPEP, when offered, should be implemented in the context of a comprehensive sexual health approach including risk reduction counseling, STI screening and treatment, recommended vaccination, and linkage to HIV PrEP, HIV care, or other services, as appropriate.
